Description

What you will be responsible for:

  • Responsible for providing credit structuring, credit underwriting, risk management and client facing support for a portfolio of diversified clients with average loan generally  greater than $2MM, which includes writing annual reviews, regular risk monitoring (often monthly and/or quarterly),obtaining reporting from customer as needed, and making recommendations to ensure the loan portfolio stays within CWB’s risk appetite.
  • Support the achievement of branch financial objectives through effective and timely credit underwriting for complex new and existing borrowing opportunities, while balancing risk and reward in line with CWB’s risk appetite.
  • Assist the Manager Commercial and/or Senior Manager, Business Development in identifying full-service solutions for clients with the view to be every client’s primary financial partner.
  • Actively refer to other business partners both within branch banking and across CWB.
  • Assess credit applications, ensuring they provide a high quality of risk assessment, credit structure, due diligence and overall presentation.
  • Foster and promote a positive environment that supports a fun, high-performing and diverse workforce.
  • Act as a champion for change in line with CWB strategy.

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or related discipline  
  • 3-6 years financial services experience within functions of banking and/or business lending, including direct experience with commercial credit underwriting.
  • Leadership and/or coaching experience considered an asset
  • Well-developed skills in financial statement analysis and knowledge of effective risk mitigation strategies for credit underwriting
  • A highly motivated team player who values the attributes of integrity, respect, accountability, common-sense and caring.
  • Strong skills to ensure credit structures are within CWB’s thresholds for risk.
  • Collaboration skills with the ability to work across business units and corporate office departments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of collateral security and documentation requirements.
  • Strong computer and business modeling skills. Experience with banking and loan origination systems is an asset
