The Microsoft System Administrator is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance


tuning and recovery procedures for critical systems in house or hosted, as well as working knowledge and


skills required to manage cloud services.






Strategy, Planning & Deployment


* Investigates and analyzes system requirements and develops system specifications


* Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts


* Participate in system design and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software


* Manage installation and configuration of infrastructure systems


* Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services


* Coordinate with network administrator, business application, and database administration functions to implement server systems that utilize industry best practices to meet corporate objectives




Operational Management




* Manage and tune systems to ensure high levels of availability and security


* Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of infrastructure


* Perform server and security audits


* Schedule\Perform and test routine system backups and restores


* Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on




* Practice network asset management, including the maintenance of network component


inventory and related documentation


* Analyze system, server, application, and network performance


* Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases


* Participate in negotiations with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services


* Develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration



Position Requirements


Formal Education & Certification


* Post-secondary education in Information Technology or related discipline


* Current certifications in Microsoft and Azure considered an asset




Knowledge & Experience




* 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a mid to large infrastructure operation (preferably O&G)


* 5+ years of experience providing server support in a Data Center environment


* Senior server generalist in a Windows based environment, supporting versions up to


Microsoft Server 2016


* Experience with Identity, and Access Management solutions (IAM)


* Expertise in Cloud deployment, configuration and management


* Expertise in MS Online suite and technologies including Office 365, Exchange, MS Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive etc.


* Architecture and design including cloud, datacenter, & disaster recovery


* Experience with creating and maintaining scripts [PowerShell]


* Strong background in infrastructure support including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP


* Expertise in Citrix technologies including NetScaler, XenApp, XenDesktop


* Familiar with database, networking, storage, virtualization, VOIP (SQL, Oracle, EMC Storage, VMWARE, Cisco VOIP)


* Familiar with security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems


* Familiar with network hardware and equipment, including routers and switches

Work Conditions


* 40-hour onsite work week with 24/7 on-call availability.


* Ability / willingness to work outside of normal business hours, weekend and evening work is required


* Some travel may be required
